Patton makes a welcome return to winners enclosure

The Clough Maiden Hunters Chase caused somewhat of a surprise when 14/1 shot The Grey Lord from the William Patton stable came home in front under a fine ride by Mark O'Hare.

O'Hare produced eight year old to lead two from home and the pair kept on well on the run-in to record a seven length win from Bonoman

Robert Patton son to the winning trainer said afterwards: "My father is 82 years of age and he's at home watching racing on the television."

"This is our first runner on the track in over four years. The win came as a bit of a surprise but to be honest but I think this track really suited him."
