Perfect Pasture dominated the ultra-competitive Scurry Handicap at the Curragh when powering away in the final furlong for a clear-cut success.

Mick Easterby's charge shot out of the pack to overwhelm Distant Past with a furlong to go and readily asserted. Master Speaker (12/1) tried to chase him down and stayed on for second along the stands-side rail but he was two lengths adrift at the line. Distant Past (33/1) and 11/1 chance In Salutem completed the placings in third and fourth respectively.

The 16/1 winner gave jockey Paul Mulrennan a double on the car as he had earlier steered Mecca's Angel home in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes.

Paul Mulrennan said: "He did it really well, he loved the ground. Mick Easterby was very bullish about him. He was in real good form and got a nice break. I got a good toe into the race and the rest is history!

"It was tactical enough, I think I was just drawn the right side (in 14) and I had the pace around me so I got a good lead off the Kevin Ryan horse (Distant Past) and like I say when I got stuck into him he really stuck his head down.

"It's nice to get a winner for Mick Easterby, I was apprenticed to him for long enough. That's why I am so grey!"
