Phelan and Forde take Tramore Opener

Cork girl, Nadine Forde, who is attached to the Edward O'Grady yard, looked to have plenty to do in fourth place on favourite, Aldhaher Beebers (3/1 into 9/4) down in the dip. But she got a great response from her partner up the hill to prevail by one and three parts of a length in the Tote Placepot Races 1 To 6 (Ladies) Maiden.

The useful National Hunt performer (6 wins in that sphere) was getting off the mark on the Flat in this two miler. Maurice Phelan trains this son of City Honours (that stallion stands at his Bert House Stud in Athy) and he said, "I might bring him to Tralee next week for a hurdle race and if not he'll have a break and go over fences in the spring."

Forde meanwhile was riding her fourteenth winner and with one more she'll lose the right to claim the seven pounds. She has two point-to-point wins to her credit as well. (EM)
