Powerstation back in the winner's enclosure

Popular veteran Powerstation placed in three Cheltenham Festivals and third to Big Buck’s in two renewals of the World Hurdle, gained a deserved first win in 19 months in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle at Navan today.

Ridden by capable 7lbs claiming amateur Johnny King, the 11 year old gelding eventually battled well to see off the challenge of He’llberemembered by a length and a half.

Afterwards winning trainer Eamonn O’Connell stated “he ran well at Clonmel the last day and I knew he was right today. Eventhough he is 11, he is still a fresh little horse and he’ll go for the Woodies Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.

“He is a stone higher in England so there’s no point going over there and he may go back over fences later in the season. He didn’t find the ground too bad there - out wide its not too bad.”
