Pride strolls to Limerick bumper victory

The final race of four hectic days of Irish racing, went to the 9/10 favourite Pride ofthe Parish for Willie Mullins with his son Patrick aboard.

The 7yo son of Flemensfirth (second winner of the day for that sire after The Bosses Nephew ran out a very easy twelve length winner of the bumper over 2m 2f. Royal Vic hit the front at the two furlong pole with the winner travelling strongly into second on his outside, he then cruised into the lead and drew clear when pushed out by his rider.

The aforementioned Royal Vic plugged on for second at 13/2 while Notification was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third at 25/1 for his trainer William Cronin. Dawn Flyer who was backed from 13/2 into 5/1, for her trainer Austin Leahy pulled up early on.

Winning rider Patrick Mullins said afterwards: "He will go jumping now as he is too old for winners bumpers, he’ll be eight in the New Year. He is a real chaser in the making as he is 16.3hh. I look forward to riding him over hurdles."
