Auld Enemy got off the mark on the first time of asking as he made all to win the Requinto EBF Maiden under Wayne Lordan for David Wachman.

The son of Fastnet Rock, who cost 220,000 Guineas as a yearling, lead shortly after breaking from the stalls and he was ridden from over a furlong out, keeping on well in the closing stages to score by a length and a half.

Fellow newcomer Black Beach (20/1) ran a fine race to finish second under Chris Hayes for Johnny Levins while the 2/1 favourite Stone Mountain was a head back in third under Joseph O'Brien for his father Aidan. Promised Money was sent off a well-backed 9/2 chance (from 12/1 last night) but she could only manage a disappointing tenth under Declan McDonogh for Eddie Lynam.

David Wachman said afterwards: "He's a grand colt. He had a good draw and was reasonably professional.

"He wants further and we'll get him home and make a plan for him then."
