On his first start in a handicap and on his initial effort for the John Joe Walsh yard, Push The Button landed an eventful Family Day 14th July Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse under Brian O'Connell.

The Ben Dalton-ridden Mac Tigue looked like he might well have enough done in front before crashing out at the last.

It appeared Rafi De Triana s race to lose then but he was doing nothing for his rider, Kevin Sexton, in the closing stages and he was collared and beaten a length by Push The Button.

Walsh said of the former Terence O'Brien inmate: "He stayed on well. The ground is as quick as he'd want it to be.

"That's his first run for us and we've had him four or five months.

"He'll keep on the go but if the ground got too firm he wouldn't run.

"He might want a bit further as well.

"Brian gave him a good ride and he thought he might have finished second but for the horse falling." (GC & EM)
