California Rose stayed on best to land the spoils in the mile handicap at Killarney.

Japelli made a bold bid from the front but had to give way just inside the final furlong.

7/2 favourite Money Spider got to the lead briefly but was soon trumped by California Rose, who galloped on strongly under Ben Curtis to post a two-length win.

The 11/2 winner, who was following up her Bellewstown success earlier this month, continued the fine form of trainer Pat Martin.

"She did it well," said Martin afterwards.

"I thought she was half pulling up at Bellewstown last time and up until today I thought heavy ground was the key to her but she must have an engine.

"We'll stick to handicaps and Galway would suit with the fast pace and uphill finish. She's a filly you have to get stuck in to."

The third placed Wagadoogoochoochoo had been backed at big prices this morning and was sent off 8/1 on track.
