Ross Na Righ opened his chasing account in the two and a half mile Slievenamon Beginners Chase, although the 11/8 favourite had some fortune on his side as De Dodger exited when holding every chance at the last.

Aine O’Connor held a narrow lead aboard De Dodger when her mount hit the final fence hard, and she had no hope of staying in the saddle.

This left the Bryan Cooper-ridden Ross Na Righ clear to beat Ask Me Sister (7/1), who was hampered by the last fence drama, by an easy six lengths with Kildare Blowin (7/1) another eight lengths further back in third.

Winning trainer Dessie Hughes said, “We had a bit of luck which was nice. He was entitled to win and jumped really well today.

“He was going very well between the final two and I think he had a bit more left in the tank. We’ll see what mark he gets now but he won’t be good enough for the novices.”
