Run With The Wind landed a bit of a touch when coming through to win the beginners’ chase at Listowel for Michael Hourigan and Barry Geraghty.

The Saddler’s Wells seven-year-old was 11/2 this morning and saw sustained support down to 11/4 before going off at 3/1.

He was always in the front rank and delivered his challenge at the second last. He got away from the last fence very nimbly and hit the line three and three parts of a length ahead of Benash (16/1). The 11/4 favourite Elegant Statesman came in third.

This was Run With The Wind’s third course victory at Listowel. He has now won on the flat, over hurdles and in a chase in his career.

Trainer Michael Hourigan said: “It’s horses for courses. I didn’t want to run him only the owner (John B O’Hagan is down. I was worried about the ground, I thought it was a bit tacky. I wanted to go to Ballinrobe next week, but the owner was right again!

"He’s obviously a good horse fresh as he hasn’t run since Killarney. He was very slick and quick at his fences today. The ground must be drying out.”
