Davy Russell secured a double at Gowran Park this afternoon when Bonzo Bing claimed the novice hurdle on the card.

The race developed into a duel from before the final flight as Bonzo Bing hit the front and was soon tackled by 6/4 favourite Vicky De L'Oasis

Bill Harney's charge found more on the run-in as he held the market leader at bay to record a half-length success.

The Gold Well gelding, sent off a 4/1 shot, looks an improving sort and was following up a cosy victory at Clonmel last time.

“He's a proper horse and got a good education from Davy today,” said Harney afterwards.

“He's not in love with that ground but what horse would be. He's still a shell and a baby and we won't over-use him over hurdles – although then again we could get greedy!

“Chasing will be his job and he'll go over fences next season.”

Russell has also taken the second race of the day on Upstager
