Santana turns on style

Carlowsantana was produced with a well-timed run by Bobby Molloy to claim the Goresbridge Handicap Hurdle in good style at Gowran.

The Stephen Nolan-trained gelding worked his way into contention at the second last and hit the front going to the final flight.

He powered away on the run-in to record a cosy four-length success over Luca Brasi

The seven-year-old, sent off 7/2 favourite, was following up on his victory at Limerick last month.

"It's brilliant to get two back to back. He's a great old horse," said Nolan.

"It was tacky ground in Limerick last time and the better the ground the better his form.

"If the handicapper is nice to him he could win again. We'll give him another run in a hurdle and see how he comes out of that.

"We could then give him a couple of runs in beginners chases."
