Schelm for Galway Hurdle

Clearly the leading jump jockey of the campaign, Paul Carberry demonstrated exactly why he finds himself at the top of the table with a typically confident ride on Schelm the not extended victor of the Bulmers Summer Sundays Novice Hurdle at Limerick.

Held up well off the pace, the German-bred came through to join the solid market-leader, Sanglote at the last, before pulling out enough to score by a length with Carberry sitting motionless.

Successful trainer Ronnie O´Leary said, "He will go for the Galway Hurdle. I was a bit nervous about the ground here but he has done the job well. He seems to like jumping hurdles better than he liked running on the flat. Paul gave him a peach of a ride and we´ll enter him for the Galway Hurdle now."
