An opening mark of 73 proved to be very lenient for 3/1 favourite Dutch Schultz as he romped to victory in the second split of the BetVictor Casino Handicap.

The Golden Horn gelding, formerly trained by Ralph Beckett, raced in mid-division until coming through to lead two furlongs out. Mountain Fox (9/1) was trying to make a race of it at that point but the winner was soon clear and Gary Carroll eased him down in the final hundred yards to win by eight lengths from the former with Wajaaha (7/1 back in third).

It was a double for Carroll and winning trainer Gavin Cromwell after Sunset Shiraz rsquo; similarly emphatic victory earlier.

"He was very good. He had a nice run in the maiden in Galway, I thought he'd run a nice race here today but I didn't expect him to go and win like that,” said Cromwell.

“He's a grand horse to look forward to for the winter and he'll go hurdling.

“He won't run on the Flat again this season but that could get him into a nice handicap somewhere along the way next year.

“His next port of call will be a maiden hurdle. He floated around there and Gary said it felt like good ground on him so he shouldn't have any problem with winter ground.”
