Home Secretary lunged late to grab victory in the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk this evening.

Shane Foley got a great tune from his mount in the closing stages to collar The Black Devil who had hit the front with over a furlong to run.

Garvan Donnelly's charge, sent off the 5/1 joint-favourite, got the verdict by half a length at the line.

The winner, a good third here just last Friday, had drifted slightly this morning (5/1 to 7/1) but had attracted some support again on course from 6/1 into 5/1. Armed Guard the other market leader could only finish fifth.

“He was a decent enough horse in his day. He's had a few little injuries but nothing major,” said Donnelly.

“It's nice to have a change of luck and we'll stick with something similar.”
