Shifting stormed clear in the closing stages to give Willie McCreery his first ever winner at Listowel in the LM Carey and Company Handicap.

Danny Grant sent his mount up to claim front-runner Purple a furlong and a half out and she soon settled matters.

The Oratorio filly sprinted clear over a furlong out and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to record an easy six-and-a-half length success.

The 8/1 winner had sprang a shock in a Gowran Park maiden last month before finshing third at Ballinrobe last time.

“The blinkers made a bit of a difference. The ground is testing but the jockeys are riding at a sensible pace,” said McCreery afterwards.
