Sky's the limit for Sous Les Cieux

A potential star emerged at Fairyhouse today when Ruby Walsh steered the Willie Mullins trained Sous Les Cieux to a devastating win in the Fairyhouse Membership 2012 Maiden Hurdle.

Walsh, who was himself completing a treble on the day, held the son of Robin Des Champs up in the early stages before letting the French bred gelding saunter to the front from two out. The gelding then relentlessly galloped to most impressive hard-held six and a half lengths win over reasonable performer and bumper winner Rourke’s Cross.

Afterwards Mullins, himself completing a double, stated “Sous Les Cieux shows a lot at home and while he is still a bit novicey, he’ll be a better horse in a race with more pace.

“He’ll have no trouble coming back to two miles and we’ll have to see where we go now next – I’d not be afraid to bring him anywhere and he’s entered in the Royal Bond and we’ll have to have a think about that.”

Sous Les Cieux subsequently received a quote of 20/1 for both the Neptune and Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival from Stan James bookmakers.
