Smullen seals treble with Rich Tapestry

Pat Smullen rode his third winner of the night as Rich Tapestry proved much too good for his rivals in the one mile colts and geldings maiden at Dundalk.

Rich Tapestry also brought up a double for trainer Dermot Weld and owners Moyglare Stud Farm.

The winner took the race by the scruff of the neck two furlongs out and soon had the rest of the field off the bridle. He came home a length and three quarters clear of odds-on favourite Long Live The King a Group 1 entered colt from Aidan O'Brien's yard who was heavily backed.

Jockey Smullen said: "He did it well. We thought a bit of him earlier in the year but he just needed his first run at the Curragh. He has shown good form. We are very pleased with him and he will be a nice one for next year." Printmaker Sheikh Mohammed's Shamardal colt trained by Michael Halford to make his debut, was a short head back in third.
