Waydownsouth flashed home inside the final furlong to land the spoils in the rated race at Tramore. Kims Dream looked set for victory when claiming Lindenhurst turning for home but couldn't hold the late charge of Pat Flynn's charge.
Danny Grant had been rowing along down the hill on the well-backed gelding (5/1 this morning – returned 7/2) and he looked under pressure in third at the two pole.
He found another gear when they straightened up, however, and galloped on strongly to get up close home
. Kims Dream was just denied the runner-up spot at the line as 2/1 favourite Lindenhurst battled back.
The winner, victorious over hurdles here in the past, was not scoring out of turn having been runner-up on his two most recent starts at Clonmel and Limerick.
"After the first one was lame I thought my day was gone,” said Flynn.
“It's great that he won and he will win again someday, he got up nicely. He 100% deserved it.
“He could win a few chases as he's a very good jumper and he could also go for a good hurdle as he's well handicapped over hurdles.
“He won here before so he handled the track. He was keen on the outside with no cover but everything went grand and he is a hardy fella."
Grant added:- “He's tough out and I think he's gotten better as he's gotten older.”
“He loves the tight tracks but I actually thought he was beaten a furlong down. He battled back.
“We put the hood on to help him. He's normally a bit more keen but he's getting better now and is enjoying his racing.”
It was compensation for winning connections who had Highly Toxic return lame after being turned over at a short-price in the opener.
