Speed Dial (8/1) claimed his fourth race since December, and a maiden success on the Flat, when landing the Goresbridge Handicap at Gowran today for trainer Pat Hughes and jockey Colm O'Donoghue.

The winner arrived with his challenge on the outer in the straight before staying on to defeat Fionnuar (whose trainer Jim Bolger was chasing a four-timer on the day) by a length and a quarter.

Afterwards Hughes stated “that's as quick as he'd want it but he has been an unbelievable servant. We don't train him that hard and he does his work on the course; he might have a little break now.”
