Spin Point confirmed the promise of his debut effort at Galway when edging a tight finish to the Powerstown Stud Maiden at Gowran Park.

The Jim Bolger-trained Godolphin colt fought out a final furlong duel with Van Schaick and just had a short-head to spare over Ger Lyons' charge at the line.

The Pivotal gelding, sent off 7/4 favourite today, had dead-heated for second behind Alveena on his debut at Galway earlier in the month.

"Kevin (Manning) said the race in Galway has worked out well. Robertstown won out of it and now him as well," said Ger Flynn, travelling head lad.

"He said he'd like to step him up in trip. He's still very green and a bit babyish but he has a fantastic attitude and a great constitution. He'll improve loads and is going the right way.

"He hadn't the ideal draw here at Gowran being on the outside as you have to get out and get over."
