The 11/8 favourite Stately Home beat stable mate Knight Of Malta to give trainer Denis Hogan a one-two in the Savills Claiming Maiden.

The Clodovil gelding, a well-backed second at Listowel last week, had a nice position tracking the leaders before coming through to hit the front a furlong and a half out.

He kept on well to score by a length and three quarters from Knight Of Malta, with Stellar Spirit just a head further back in third.

Placed four times in all before this, the 4-year-old was getting off the mark at the tenth attempt and was best in at the weights from his rating of 75.

After riding his ninth winner of the campaign, Doyle said: “Since the bit of ease in the ground has come he’s really stepped up his game. I think he’ll improve again from that and I’m delighted for the owner (Gerard Murphy) who is new for us.

“When the entries came out I didn’t think he’d be beat after the good run in Listowel and I’m very happy we got the job done.”

The winner remains with present connections but there were two claims in for third home Stellar Spirit at a price of E20,000 and he now joins the stable of Jarlath Fahey.
