"He jumped away, loves the ground and it's nice to get a win. I wish there was another meeting here in a month's time!" said J P McManus' racing manager Frank Berry after Mark Walsh sported the green and gold to win aboard Riviera Sun in the Sligo Park Hotel Novice Handicap Chase.
This was a commendable effort on the part of the successful Milan gelding, as he carried eleven stone ten to victory, upstaging the lightly-weighted Galboystown Lady (10st 1Ib) on the run-in for a three length win.
They left Charlotte's Chum all of twelve lengths back in third.
At 11/4 Henry De Bromhead's Riviera Sun was edged for market supremacy by Pulled Mussel
That 5/2 shot failed by some way to come up to expectations, quickly beaten from the third last, and Phillip Enright called it a day on him approaching the next.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Pulled Mussel, trained by Robert Tyner, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to blowing hard post race.
