Review TIPPERARY 20th Jul

< Larkwing bounced back from a disappointing effort in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham to finish a gutsy winner of the Grade Three Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary.

Never far off the early pace under Barry Geraghty, the 7-2 chance looked to have plenty to do as Definate Spectacle tried to give his rivals the slip on the turn for home.

Eric McNamara's charge hit top gear approaching the last and got on top in the final furlong, finishing two-and-a-half lengths in front.< Psalm completed a treble for Johnny Murtagh when cruising to an effortless success in the Dan Dooley Ford Motor Centre Maiden.

The 4-11 favourite, who had been plying her trade in Group One company earlier in the season, simply oozed class as a motionless Murtagh allowed her to edge in front at the furlong pole and go on to beat Academy Gigsnreels by a hard-held five lengths.

Murtagh's run began on the Aidan O'Brien-trained Hail Caesar who showed a touch of class to get on top close home in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.< Miss Puss took up the running over a furlong out, but Murtagh managed to get the 11-4 winner in front close home and despite running green, he went on to score by three-quarters of a length.

Johnny Murtagh completed the second leg of his treble when partnering Pyrenees (5/1) to a facile win in the Irish Wheelchair Association Premier Mascot Derby Handicap, but was out of luck in the Mark Maher Construction Handicap, as his mount Desert Ben lost by a head to Adriatic (14-1).< Dimenticata (14-1) landed the big race of the day at Fairyhouse when quickening nicely to land the Listed Belgrave Stakes.

Kevin Prendergast's four-year-old, second in the Irish 1000 Guineas last year, showed her ability for sprint trips by travelling beautifully in the early stages before responding to Chris Hayes's urgings to beat the fast-finishing Sharleez by a head.
