The Buck gives red-hot Murphy another winner

John Murphy's horses are in such form at present that it even rubbed off on The Buck who bridged a near three year gap by landing the Rocklands Service Station Handicap at Wexford.

Sam James got to the front on the Listowel 2007 Festival winner under four furlongs out and once he heard the heavily-backed favourite King Of Redfield getting to him close home, he found that bit extra to prevail by a neck.

Murphy's son George remarked: "He is a real stayer and Sam gave him a great ride. He ran very well in Killarney but he just found a few too good."

Seventeen runs since his success at the Harvest Festival in 2007 had yielded nothing for the victorious son of Quws who was gaining his second career success here at the age of seven. He had been raised 12Ibs for an excellent effort in a Killarney maiden last time.

Unfortunately Saponara suffered a fatal injury at about the two furlong pole. Her trainer Dessie Hughes also lost Billie Beg at Kilbeggan a week back.
