The Jimmy Mangan trained Pumbaa recorded a third course win at Limerick today when landing the Goggin Buckley Handicap Hurdle under the trainer's daughter Jane Mangan.

The winner stayed on well under pressure from the last to hold the challenges of Vincent Row and Not For Changing by two necks.

Afterwards Mangan Senior revealed “Kevin Sexton, who won on Pumbaa on his last start, was originally booked to ride him but just before declaration time, HRI rang to say he had been jocked up on another horse; I'd I thought I'd a good sub though and decided to put up Jane!

“He loves winter ground and will be kept going over hurdles for now before going chasing next year.”

After the race the Stewards suspended Niall Madden for two day for improper use of his whip aboard the runner-up Vincent Row.
