Three goes One place better this time around

Division Two of the Limerick GAA Handicap went to another 20/1 shot as One of Three came home best of all to catch the 9/2 joint favourite Mrs Batt by three parts of a length.

The winner trained by Michael Mulvany and ridden by Gary Carroll put some disappointing recent form well behind her as she came from off the pace to catch the front running Mrs Batt late on.

On her twenty ninth career start the daughter of Tamarisk was recording just her second win, her only other success coming in April of last year at Cork.

In fact the winner finished second in this very race last year, just getting nabbed close home by Cinnin Oir, going down by half a length on that ocassion. Allegra Tak ran his best race for a while to finish a further length back in third at 16/1 while the other 9/2 joint favourite Cas Aer finished a disappointing seventh for Ger Lyons & Johnny Murtagh.

Winning trainer Michael Mulvany said afterwards: "She is game and honest. A horse fell in front of her the last day (at Tipperary when she pulled up) and there was nothing Declan (McDonogh) could do. We were expecting a good run today in ideal conditions."
