Thyne completes Russell treble

Davy Russell completed a 239/1 treble when Meadows Thyne landed the Thomastown Handicap Hurdle at Gowran.

The Tony Martin-trained gelding came with a strong challenge at the last and found more on the run-in to score by a length from Caffeine Craze

"He's been plagued with injuries all his life," revealed Martin afterwards.

"He's had a wind op so couldn't operate on heavy ground during the winter even though he likes it.

"Touch wood we can have a bit of fun with him now. We've waited all year with him."
