True Verdict got off the mark on the seventh time of asking as she took the opener at Navan this afternoon the Come Racing On June 8th Maiden.

The David Wachman trained daughter of Danehill Dancer finished just half a length second to subsequent Newmarket 1000 Guineas winner Sky Lantern on her second start in a Listed race at Naas last year but on four starts since she failed to shed her maiden tag.

She finished third behind Scotland Forever and Wexford Opera on her last start at the Curragh, but she reserved the form with the latter this afternoon, hitting the front from over a furlong out and staying on well to score by two and a half lengths.

Wexford Opera was sent off the 15/8 favourite for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning but she had to settle for second while Acting Talent (15/2) ran well on her debut to finish just a head back in third under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld.

Winning rider Wayne Lordan said afterwards: "She travelled well and went to the line well. I thought the trip might have been a bit sharp for her but she picked up well and she was entitled to do what she did.

"The ground is nice and it's on the better side of yielding which was a plus for her.
