Twelve Up for Kahuna

Kahuna successful at Galway on Friday evening, showed no ill-effects of the quick reappearance when landing the Guinness Sligo Handicap Hurdle for the second year running.

Andrew Thornton made all as is the norm on the son of Mister Lord and he took a confident peep between his legs turning in. Sure enough his partner didn't disappoint, staying on well for pressure on the run-in to outpoint Catskill (mistake last) by two lengths.

Thornton said: "He was never going to be headed. Muredach has done a great job with him. He keeps him sweet by doing different things with him every day."

Thornton was winning for the fourth time on the twelve-year-old who was recording his twelfth career success. Amazingly the first of those came in a Leopardstown bumper way back in December 2002.
