Eddie Lynam made it back to back wins on this programme at Dundalk when half-an-hour on from Wishyouwerehere s success (in the hands of Niall McCullagh), Soft Power justified odds-on favouritism on her debut in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Maiden under Pat Smullen.

In the famous Mrs Sabina Power silks, Smullen arrived there going well on the Balmont filly two furlongs out, and the contest was over soon after she took command over a furlong out. Six lengths separated Soft Power and the pace-setting Osuileabhain at the line.

Lynam disclosed: "She had been training okay at home

"When I was getting on the plane to go to Dubai I thought to myself I'll run her next Friday and she should run respectably.

"When I saw the opposition though I thought she had to go and win it.

"Unfortunately with the winter programme she'll probably be redundant for three months now.

"She won't get a mark and there are no winners races for her.

"Like half the population she'll have to go on the dole!

"She's a winner now and she's well bred. The last two maiden winners Pat rode in those colours were Slade Power and Sole Power.

"I don't think she'll get to that but she's won and that'll keep everyone happy.

"At this stage I wouldn't have thought she's any different to the filly in the previous race but she won impressively and she could improve. She's very well bred." (GC & EM)
