After winning easily at Down Royal on Friday Mustadrik followed up at Kilbeggan this afternoon, taking the Kilbeggan Handicap Hurdle under Luke Dempsey for Gordon Elliott.

Having opened at 4/6 last night the American bred four-year-old started on-course at evens before being backed into 9/10 favouritism at the off.

Settled in mid-division he improved into a close fifth before three out and he was second approaching the next.

He hit the front before the last and kept on well from there to score by nine lengths. Western Promise (11/2) ran well to finish second under Mark Enright for Shane Ryder while Dedoctorsdaughter (14/1) was a further twelve lengths back in third under Denis Hogan.

Elliott said afterwards: "He's in at Listowel tomorrow and we'll see.

"We'll try to do the same as Eshtiaal and win three in a week - that would be nice. He had a harder race than the other fella and we'll see how he is in the morning.

"He's tough and stays going well."
