Universal Truth wins for Weld/McNamara

Half an hour after his brother Andrew McNamara completed a double, amateur rider Robbie McNamara himself partnered Universal Truth to win the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Champion Bumper at Limerick today.

The Dermot Weld trained gelding appeared to have plenty to do over a furlong out but quickened well to lead close home, eventually winning, somewhat cheekily, by a length and three parts over Baracas

Weld was absent but his son Kris Weld stated "the ground wasn't ideal for Universal Truth and if he doesn't go to Punchestown for the Champion Bumper, he will run in a Flat maiden."
