The quick ground took its toll on riders in both Killarney and Down Royal this evening, with several jockeys receiving injuries.

Ben Dalton got a very nasty fall from Wot A Shot in the opener at Down Royal and although he was unconscious after it, he soon came around and was talking and moving.

He was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, where he will have neck pain assessed.

Ryan Treacy was taken to the same Hospital with a suspected fracture collarbone after his mount, Native Palm fell in the fifth race.

In Killarney Barry Geraghty, Adrian Heskin, Robbie Power and Mikey O’Connor were all in the wars

Geraghty’s mount, Takeyourcapoff was brought down in the third race, and he was stood down for the rest of the evening with a thumb injury.

Adrian Heskin injured his arm after Dingaling fell in the same race, while Robbie Power was limping and stood down after his mount Caoleoin fell in the fifth.

Mikey O’Connor replaced Power on Moon Dice in the sixth, and that fellow fell at the third last, with O’Connor subsequently taken to hospital with an injury to his lung.

O’Connor was due to ride Gracenkate in the last but as no suitable amateur was available that one was withdrawn.
