Urban Gale gets the job done

Nedzer’s Return was the second odds on favourite to be over-turned when Urban Gale from the Philip Rothwell stable took the Bloomfield House Hotel Hurdle in the hands of Shane Jackson.

Rothwell’s charge challenged for the lead at the second last and kept on under strong drive by Jackson to lead at the last.

The pair kept on strongly on the run-in to record a three length win over 4/7 favourite Nedzer’s Return.

Winning trainer Rothwell said afterwards: “I’m thrilled with that win.”

“The favourite has no rating over hurdles and won a hunters chase last time out and was now running over two mile three, I felt we had every chance and it’s great it worked out.”

“He had a nice run back at Punchestown, we have been slow to run him because the ground is so fast everywhere.”

“We decided to take our chance here so I just hope he’s ok in the morning. I’m quite cautious of running my horses on very fast ground.”
