Vicangelome who had looked a touch unlucky on his chasing debut at Sligo, gained compensation at Wexford this afternoon when landing the Jim Whitty Memorial Beginners Chase.

Robert Tyner's charge made a blunder at the final fence late last month and only went down by half a length at the line.

Philip Enright held the 11/8 favourite up today before taking closer order three from home. He hit the front at the second last and stuck on well in the closing stages to account for Motown Bob by half a length.

"He did it nicely. We think he was a bit unlucky the last day, the other came at him and he just made a mistake at the last," said Tyner.

"He jumped well today, he got close to one up the back but he jumped well overall. We will see what mark he gets now and probably go that route with him.

"We had him in here on Saturday over two and a half but I thought he would prefer more of an ease in the ground and we got that today."
