Mark Walsh completed a double in the JP McManus colours at Naas today when Give Me A Break claimed the Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle.

The 7/2 favourite tracked clear leader Face Value in the two-and-a-half mile contest before moving smoothly into the lead before the second last.

Michael Hourigan 's charge kept on well in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-quarter length victory over Solita

The winner was making her first start since scoring at Sligo in August and Hourigan said:-

“She did it well. She's gone up enough (in the weights). We'll go again but whether she'll be able to take it I don't know.

“She's just a dream to train. She hadn't run since August and I was a bit worried. With her following the horse in front it was nearly like she was making it herself.

“She's not a bad mare and has the pedigree to go with it. She likes that ground but I don't know about her on heavy.

“She'll have no problem stepping up in trip to three miles. She'll make a good stayer.”
