Mark Walsh gave Pilgrim Way a confident ride to claim the N.I. Childrens Hospice Handicap Hurdle at Navan.

Walsh sat in behind the leaders on the 12/1 shot before making ground up turning for home.

The Kalanisi gelding travelled well to challenge at the second last and picked up strongly on the run-in to get the better of Cloudy Morning

Mark Cahill 's charge went on to post a three-and-a-half length success. Perrie Hill stayed on late to pip Cloudy Morning for the runner-up spot.

It was a first winner 'track' since April 2013 for the Carrick-On-Suir handler who had tasted his first racecourse success then with Garron Crest.

"He's just a four-year-old and was very babyish but is just coming to himself now," said Cahill.

"We'll find something similar and he wants good ground. I'd say he'll get a break for the winter."
