Minnies Secret justified good support in the opening mares maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse this afternoon when running out a cosy winner.

The Charles Byrnes-trained mare was backed from 2/1 into 6/5 to make a winning return to hurdling having taken a bumper at Limerick on St Stephen's Day.

Donie McInerney tracked the leaders on the Beneficial mare before hitting the front going to the penultimate flight.

She had things under control before the last and went on to score by four-and-a-quarter lengths from the staying on Tara Dylan

“She got a small bit outpaced near the third last and probably needs two and a half,” said Byrnes afterwards.

“I’m told there is a Listed race here in two weeks and she might as well take her chance in it now.

“She may have backed off one or two but she jumped well enough overall.

“It’s a family syndicate Byrnsey Boys Syndicate) and I bred her as well. I have the dam, and she’s the only mare I have.”
