Newcomer Endless Drama ran out an impressive winner of the opener at Naas this afternoon, the Tifrums EBF Maiden, scoring under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons and owner Annette O'Callaghan.

The bay son of Lope De Vega started at 14/1 this morning but was well-backed, opening on-course at just 7's before going off a 6/1 chance.

Prominent throughout he hit the front just under two furlongs from home and he soon stretched clear, coming home five and a half lengths to the good.

Fellow newcomer Cenotaph kept on to take second under Seamie Heffernan for Aidan O’Brien at 6/1 while Romiac was a further two and three parts of a length back in third under Connor King for Sheila Lavery at 16/1. Hunt was sent off the 5/2 favourite but he never really looked like winning and finished a disappointing tenth under Pat Smullen for Johnny Murtagh.

Ger Lyons said afterwards: "He's a nice horse and we've always liked him. He's as big a horse as we've had come into the yard and we took our time with him.

“Coming from the camp he did, they know there stuff. He didn't make the breeze-ups for one reason or another but they told me he was as good as they've had.

“That's the way we were hoping he'd run but you don't expect it. He's a very, very smart horse.

“That'll be it for the season. He holds an entry for the Killavullan but that wouldn't be my style to run them back like that. We'll look forward to next season.

“I had him entered over seven but I like starting mine over shorter. Next year we'll start him over seven and step up quietly.

“Hopefully he's the right horse.”

Boylesports go 33/1 about the winner for next year's 2,000 Guineas.
