Beechmount Whisper made a winning debut over jumps at Kilbeggan this evening when swooping on the run-in. Weightfordave looked to be getting on top going to the last in the two-mile maiden hurdle but Patrick Prendergast's charge chased him down on the run-in.

The Kodiac gelding got on top in the closing stages to record a half length victory under replacement rider Roger Loughran.

Davy Russell was stood down with an arm complaint after his winning ride in the opening race.

“I'm sorry for Davy but Roger gave him an absolute cracker of a ride. Davy was a great help and told him what we needed,” said Prendergast.

“I was a bit worried coming here as he's being running over a mile on the Flat and we've made plenty of use of him so I was worried he would be a bit gassy.

“We put the hood on him and he got a very good ride. Roger is a very good horseman and I was delighted when he came to me in the weigh room. Switching him off was the key.

“He's very honest and there aren't many that win four in a year. We'll mix it with him but he's just got a bit high on the Flat.

“Once the winter ground comes he'll be finished and I'll send him back home.” Timing'severything was sent to post the 6/5 favourite but faded tamely before the last and finished sixth.
