Willies Girl completes Darcy treble

Mike Darcy partnered his third career treble at Limerick today when steering Willies Girl to win the Crecora Beginners Chase (div 2), for winning trainer and birthday boy Lorcan Donnelly.

Willies Girl had the race in safe keeping when making a final fence mistake but the blunder failed to stop the daughter of Anshan winning by an easy five lengths. In-form Darcy has now ridden ten winners this season.

Afterwards Donnelly stated "I received my full license today and its my birthday too!" When asked his age, Wicklow based Donnelly paused briefly, then answered with a wry smile, "I'm over 21!"

Donnelly added "I have four horses in training but will have nine with me by next Monday. Willies Girl is owned by Fermoy based James Donnelly, no relation of mine, whose son shoes my horses."
