Lady Wingshot proved a different class in the Listed Knockaire Stakes at Leopardstown as she powered clear for an impressive victory.

The 2/1 favourite completed a double for Jim Bolger and Ronan Whelan when taking the seven-furlong contest by four lengths.

Whelan delivered his mount with a strong run to lead over a furlong out and she soon had things in control. Ondeafears came through to finish second with 25/1 shot Core Element getting up for third.

The winner was recording her third stakes win of the season and could remain in training next year.

Paul Starr, representing owners Ballylinch Stud, said:- "There's no decision yet. She'll come home soon and it will be debated in the next few weeks."

Bolger added:- "She's going the right way and likes a little ease."

Ronan Whelan was crowned Champion Apprentice for the season and was delighted to end on a high note:-

"It's gone from strength to strength the whole year and I have to thank everyone who has given me rides.

"I've been very lucky to get good rides off the boss and it's nice to cap it off today with my first Listed winner.

"Hopefully it continues next year and I'll be able to claim 3lb for a good while as I've more than 30 winners left to ride."
