There was a brace apiece at Downpatrick for Mark and Ruby Walsh as the famous horseracing name dominated proceedings at the County Down track.

Mark Walsh seized the opening Tayto Maiden Hurdle with a composed ride on Matthew Palussiere's Fine Call For much of the two miles, Robbie Hennessy's Coliseum looked the probable winner but a superior jump at the last allowed 8-1 chance Fine Call to squeeze past and record a length-and-a-half success.

Walsh then picked up his second of the day in the Danone Maiden Hurdle on Liberty Counsel

The Dot Love-trained six-year-old struggled to stay with the leading trio for much of the race but the 9-1 shot was always regaining ground on the tougher sections of the undulating circuit.

She duly proved the strongest stayer and battled past her rivals on the run-in to notch up a two-and-a-half-length victory.

In between those victories Ruby Walsh piloted Andrew Oliver's Appeal Denied unplaced over fences in five attempts, to success in the Premier Foods Handicap Hurdle.

Jessica Harrington's Jowango appeared to have the race sewn up but the run-in proved too much and Appeal Denied swept by to take the honours.

Ruby returned to the winner's enclosure following the Dale Farm Milk Handicap Chase after a nasty fall for Randoon Hill at the final obstacle left him clear on 7-4 favourite Millanymare

Randoon Hill's rider Paddy Flood was left with bruising which will require him to be cleared to ride at the weekend.< Hello Kitty (6-1) landed the Denny EBF Beginners Chase for Leonard Whitmore and Sean Flanagan, stalking Ceasen Desist for much of the race before striking for home at the final flight, eventually recording a comfortable seven-length call over Essien despite wandering on the run-in.

Gordon Elliott's Rocking Dock (7-2) landed the Britvic NI Beginners Chase for favourite-backers, emerging the stronger in a duel to the line with Whats Up Gorden
