The veteran Hard Rock City (6-1) notched his ninth career victory at the 49th time of asking when fending off Almadaa in division one of the Group Discounts At Dundalk Handicap.

The 12-year-old edged ahead a furlong from home under Niall McCullagh, and though Almadaa finished quickly, he was half a length down at the line.

McCullagh completed his double on Charles O'Brien's 7-2 chance Bramante in the first division of the Dundalk Stadium Handicap, while the bookings At dundalkstadium.com went to the 5-2 chance Melodie D'Amour though she appeared to suffer a terrible injury after the line.< Elwazeer (2-1 favourite) took the second division of the Group Discounts At Dundalk Handicap with a last-to-first burst under Wayne Lordan, beating Elusive Express by a length.
