< Clare Glen gave trainer Sarah Dawson the biggest victory of her career with a gutsy success in the feature Guinness Handicap at Galway.

As the leader gave way a furlong out, Clare Glen (14-1) settled down for a duel with Jumbo Rio and edged ahead in the shadow of the post to win by a head in the hands of Seamie Heffernan.

The Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase was a race full of drama and it could not have been won more easily by the Tony Martin-trained 14-1 shot Another Ambition < Aberdale fell when in a clear lead and Got Attitude slipped up when holding the advantage between the last two fences, at which point Davy Condon cruised up on the eventual winner and strolled away to score by four and a half lengths.

It was more of the usual in the opening Guinness (QR) Handicap Hurdle as Dermot Weld struck for the 12th time this week with easy winner Rainforest Magic

Robbie McNamara was always prominent on the 5-4 favourite, who won on the Flat on Tuesday, and scooted clear after the second-last to score easing down by four and a half lengths.

Weld made it 13 when Pat Smullen got Address Unknown (5-4 favourite) home half a length in front of market rival Fleur De Nuit in the Guinness Race.

There was a thrilling finish to the Guinness 17:59 EBF Auction Maiden when Chris Hayes forced the Jim Gorman-trained Kingdomforthebride (7-2) home by a short head from Makalali after a ding-dong battle.

It was even closer in the Budweiser Index EBF Maiden as Noel Meade's Sam Bass (100-30) answered Willie Supple's calls to beat Harangue and Monte Carlo by two short heads.
