< Caim Hill repeated his feat of 2012 with victory in the Midlands National Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.

Philip Fenton's charge was always to the fore under Brian O'Connell, and spent the early part of the final circuit vying for the lead with Kanesh

When that rival faded three out, O'Connell pushed the 7-1 chance into a clear lead and he never looked back, eventually beating Rivage D'Or by three and a half lengths.

Barry Geraghty and Dessie Hughes missed out on doubles when Seefood came to grief when in front at the last in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.

Geraghty looked to have steered the perfect path through the race, but he met the last all wrong, leaving his rider no chance.

That left Croghill Tuppence (20-1) to come home well clear under Robbie Moran, beating Elegant Statesman by

Hughes had notched a winner earlier when Rodger Roo battled on well to land the Tom McCormack Memorial Cup Mares Maiden Hurdle.

The 20-1 chance was one of four mares in contention two out, but she kept on best of all under Roger Loughran to leave Well Tuned three and three-quarter lengths behind.

Geraghty had earlier struck when The Black Russian took the Destination Athlone Handicap Hurdle, beating Treacys Hotel Boy by half a length.

Hurdling debutant Damefirth ran out a convincing winner of the Coola Maiden Hurdle.

Henry De Bromhead's mare hit the front at the third last and pulled well clear, before Brian Hayes took the opportunity to ease the 8-1 chance up close home, recording a four-and-a-half-length verdict over red-hot 1-2 favourite Powder Hound

Gordon Elliott's Top Chief (4-1) could be called the winner of the Michael Moore Car Sales Mercedes-Benz Handicap Hurdle from a long way out, travelling beautifully for Davy Condon before striding on to a four-length win over Perrie Hill
