A bold effort from the front paid off for Notalossonya as the 10-1 chance held on by a short head in the feature "Bulmer's Original" Handicap at Leopardstown.
In a desperate finish, the winner flashed the post alongside Bob Le Beau with the photo eventually revealing the narrow outcome in favour of Eddie Lynam's filly, who received maximum assistance from Wayne Lordan in the saddle, despite her rider losing an iron.
Lynam said: "I was sure she'd get 10 furlongs, but then the second day she looked like she didn't stay.
"She stayed on well even though Wayne lost his iron, he did really well and it seemed to make no difference to him."< Smart Striking (15-8) lived up to her name as she ran out a clear-cut winner of the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden.
It was a deserved success for the John Oxx-trained three-year-old, who had found just one too good for her on both previous starts this season.
Quickening two furlongs out, she really strode on a furlong out under Fran Berry and was a ready three-length scorer from 5-4 favourite Paraphernalia
Oxx said: "She was getting a bit of seconditis. It was nice to get the win out of her, the blinkers might have helped her a bit.
"She'll get seven furlongs or a mile, she loves the fast ground and we'll go for a handicap next, one for fillies if we can find one.
"She's nicely bred and it was important to get the win and if we can get another one that would be brilliant."
Those who get stuck into Be My Storm - a daughter of the late Singspiel - never had much of an anxious moment as Dermot Weld's filly got off the mark with something in hand in the Tote Jackpot Guarantee Maiden.
The 8-11 chance got going under Pat Smullen with a quarter-mile to run and was well on top of Echoes Of History by the finish.
Weld said: "She did it nicely and did what we expected her to do.
"We'll see if we can get a bit of black type with her now. She's a very good looking filly and is good quality. Singspiel fillies are very nice to have."
