Trainer John Carr saddled a one, two in the Bellewstown Golfcourse Handicap Hurdle as his Dunroe Boy under Ian McCarthy led home stablemate Turnonthegas under Jason McKeown.

The winning 7yo son of Catcher In The Rye ran just last evening at the course where he finished fourth behind Brian Who in the handicap hurdle over 2m 4f.

Stepped up in trip to three miles today, the bay gelding chased the leaders early on and was fifth at the halfway stage.

He then made headway to lead after the fourth last flight and was ridden before the second last.

He kept on well away from the last and held off his staying on stablemate by just three parts of a length at the line.

The first two home are both owned by the executors of the late PJ Lohan. Raheenwood for Colin Kidd finished a further length and three parts back in third under Sean McDermott at the odds of 9/2.

Winning trainer John Carr said afterwards: “I thought this morning that it was the stupidest thing ever to run two horses against each in other in the same colours, but they both need three miles.

"He is an improving horse and he has gone up thirty pounds in the handicap. He might go chasing now."
