Aerlite Supreme showed the benefit of his chasing debut at Limerick last month when going one better in the www.thurlesraces.ie Beginners Chase.

Much of the action was hidden from those watching in the stands as the track was shrouded in a dense fog but a mobile camera proved a great help in providing pictures from the outer roadway. Somethingwonderful made most of the running and still held a slight advantage when falling at the penultimate fence.

This left Aerlite Supreme (7/4) in front from market rival As De Ferbet (13/8 favourite), and a length lead at the last was extended on the run-in as Barry Geraghty’s mount stayed on well to score by three and a quarter lengths.

Winning trainer Michael Hourigan said, “He jumped quite well throughout. Barry said he blew up a bit but with his jumping he was able to fill up his lungs.

“He jumped much better today than he did in Limerick. He was attacking his fences today. We’ve schooled him well since but you can’t beat a run.

“I’m going to chance running him in the Drinmore. He did it all over hurdles, he won three, and I think you will see the best of him chasing.

“Three miles will be no problem to him, and he can always go back to Limerick at Christmas. If he’s alright in the morning he’ll go to Fairyhouse next."
